Final Images

I am not happy with my overall result from this assignment, I feel I didn't work to the best of my ability, I got easily distracted in the early weeks meaning I had a lot on my hands during the last 3 weeks. I think if i had taken my photos earlier in the assignment I would have been better off because I would have been able to do reshoots for the images which didn't turn out how I had pictured they would, by doing this I also would have had a wider range of images to choose from for my finals where as I only had a select few that worked to choose from.

I feel that my dance shoot was my most successful as I got a wide range of different images using different shoes to choose from, as well as this I shot these images in the studio so I could control where my lights were and how much light was being used, this resulted in mainly well lit images. These images were the easiest to edit because I only had to clean the 'table' up and slightly adjust the levels so the shoes weren't too dark, once this had been done I just had to add my text and logo and adjust the colours so they were similar to the rest of the colours in my image. Matching the colours was quite tricky as i was trying to find a colour that was in the dance shoes and showed up well in both the light and dark patches of my image, this was not possible however so I chose two different shades of pink for my logo and slogan, I decided to use pink as that is the colour I most connect with ballet. My target audience for this advertisement is children so by using nice light pinky colours it is attractive to them as more children like pink than adults. I was originally more flowing text however after looking through a range of adverts on the internet I decided to change my text as all the advertisements I had seen had plain block text so that it was easy to read. I am pleased with this final image however I feel had I had more time to reshoot I would have tried to get all the ribbon flowing to the front of the image so it could all be seen rather than having it going off the image.

Although I was not happy with this shoot i am pleased with how my final image has turned out. I am not happy with my overall shoot because I left it till the fifth week meaning I had little to no time to do reshoots. I feel if I had had more time I would have been able to get the lighting better so my images wouldn't have been that orangey/yellow tone, I also think had I booked the studio in advance on the first week I would have been better off as I would have known for definite when I was taking my images and I also would have had the correct lighting instead of trying to use my kitchen lights. Another solution to my lighting problems would have been to have taken the location lighting out, however I would have not been able to get it home as I travel by bus and it would not have fitted in the car either.
For this final image I had to do quite a bit of editing, I had to adjust the levels and also colour balance, I had to use multiple layers and also layer masks, by using the layer mask I was able to make the screen of my ipod darker than the rest of the image, I needed to do this because if I had left it at the same exposure as the rest of my image it would have been way too over-exposed and you would not have been able to see the detail on the screen, and if i had left my whole image at the exposure of the screen it would have been to under-exposed.
I also struggled a bit with matching the colour of both the 'Love's' with the correct colour on the ipod because although it all looks the same colour there are many different shades/colours.
My target audience for this advertisement is children/teenagers, i feel this would attract more teenagers than children although the bright colours would still be attracting children. I think if this image had more devices in or had a bright background and was slightly fun it would also attract the children.
