Location Lighting

A full set of location lighting will include, two light tripods, two light heads with modifiers, two reflector umbrellas, a battery pack with two cables to attach to the lights. You will also get a cable to attach the camera to the lights/trigger and you will get a cable to attach the lights to the mains power if you are in a place with electricity.

First of all you adjust the tripod to the height you want, making sure the stand is all secure and will not fall over.

Once you have it at the height you want, you then place the light head on ensuring it is safely secured so it will not fall.

When it is safely placed on the tripod you take off the bulb case and place a light modifier on (eg, beauty dish, snoot)

Once you have done this and have decided whether you want the light directed straight at the model or reflected through an umbrella then you can work out how to have the light. If you want to add an umbrella reflector then you tun the light around and slide the umbrella into the brackets on the light head.

Then you connect the light other to a battery or to a mains power supply if you have electricity in the area you are doing your photo shoot.

Once this is all done and you're camera has a PC socket then you can connect the camera straight to the lights, if not then you will have to connect a trigger to the light and one to your camera and make sure they are synced.
