I like this photo because although it is plain and simple it is obvious that the product being advertised is dance shoes, also although the shoes look pretty new you can tell they have been worn as there is a little bit of scuffing on the toes, this is the sort of idea that I want to show, I do not want to photograph brand new shoes as I want to advertise a dance school and I want to show how even when they are worn ballet shoes don't show that much wear and tear.
I like the lighting in this image as it equally balanced at both sides and behind the shoes is slightly darker, I think this is effective as it sets the focus on the front of the shoes instead of right at the back of the image, I am hoping to create lighting similar to this however I am also going to try having them lit from the back and underneath using a light table.
Even though the colours in this image are quite pale, I think it is effective because the shoes still stand out even though they are not bright and in your face, I think using pastel colours is actually better than using bright colours because they are nice to look at and aren't too 'in your face'
I don't think the lighting in this image is as good as the other image, this is because the shoes are lit from behind and one side mainly, so the side of the shoe blends into the background and the focus is pushed to the back of the image instead of the front and the main area of the shoes.
I also think it would be better if the ribbons of the dance shoes were free flowing at the front rather than being under the shoes like they are in this photo, this is because I feel the photo would look more appealing if the ribbons were flowing out at the front/sides rather than being stuck under th shoes so they can't really be seen.
